Today is a big day in our country. The Supreme Court is hearing arguments about Same Sex Marriage. It’s about time.
I’m grateful for the many friends who teach me about love on a daily basis, friends who do not have the same rights and protections as Colin and I do. They are parents and partners who have committed to each other and their communities with grace, courage and strength. Coming from a family tree scarred with divorce, I learn from friends and mentors who show great love; for Lauren and Michelle, Margaret and Eileen, Rachel and Ratchet, Greg and Freddie, and others who may not wish to be named, thank you.
I’m grateful for Macklemore & Ryan Lewis too. If you haven’t heard The Heist, do yourself a favor. If you don’t like the song Thrift Shop, skip it (though you’ll be missing out on a great critique of our consumerist culture). Listen to Same Love, posted below.
Sometimes this song makes me cry. The killer is the mash up at the end:
love is patient, love is kind // not crying on Sundays
As a person of faith, and as a human being, I support the right, freedom, and privilege to marry.
